Referred Pain
Referred pain is when the pain you feel in one part of your body is actually caused by pain or injury in another part of your body. For example, an injured pancreas could be causing pain in your back, or a heart attack could be triggering pain in your jaw. It is the result of a network of interconnecting sensory nerves that supply many different tissues.
Referred pain is very common, which makes diagnosis and treatment of pain more difficult, contributing to the worldwide epidemic of chronic pain. It is estimated that 1 in 5 people in the United States have chronic pain.
Fortunately, at Primary Body Works, our specially trained therapists use AWT technology to rapidly assess and pinpoint the source of pain, and treat it at the same time. This reduces the rate of misdiagnosis and increases our effectiveness in reducing chronic pain, while improving our patient’s mobility, function, and quality of life.
At Primary Body Works, we are here to help you.
